IC-ENC Chairman

Marc was commissioned as an officer in the Netherlands Navy after attending the Royal Netherlands Naval Academy in 1982. Over a long and varied naval career he has occupied numerous roles including the command of HNLMS vessels and an appointment at NATO. Currently he is the Chief Hydrographer of the Royal Netherlands Navy and Director of the Netherlands Hydrographic Office and was elected as Chairman of IC-ENC in September 2016.​

​Marc's role is to represent the interests of the IC-ENC Members in IC-ENC strategic and operational aspects, Chair the annual IC-ENC Steering Committee, and to provide a 'Chairman's Recommendation' during any inter-sessional Steering Committee decisions or votes. For these reasons, he is actively engaged with the IC-ENC General Manager on a continual basis.​​​

Jens Peter Hartmann​

IC-ENC Vice Chairman

Jens Peter Hartmann is Senior Advisor at the Danish Geodata Agency which also contains the Danish Hydrographic Office. He is the agency's primary contact and coordinator for marine activities and is involved in the implementation of a Danish Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure and Marin Spatial Planning. 

He is Chairman of the IHO Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure Working Group (MSDIWG) and Chairman of the Baltic Sea Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure Working Group (BSMSDIWG) under the Baltic Sea Hydrographic Commission (BSHC). 
He is also external associate professor at Copenhagen Business School.

Jens Peter has been Head of the Danish Hydrographic Office and had served as Head of the Maritime Inspectorate at the Danish Maritime Administration. 
He has also served as chairman for a working group under the BSHC that addresses the harmonisation of ENCs in the Baltic region. 

Jens Peter is educated as a naval officer in the Royal Danish Navy and has worked as a master mariner in the commercial fleet and as a commercial pilot. Jens Peter holds degrees in organisation and strategy from the Copenhagen Business School.​

ens Peter supports the IC-ENC Chairman on strategic management issues and will bring his considerable knowledge and experience to bear on IC-ENC strategic issues.​

James Harper

General Manager

James completed a Geography degree before beginning work as a cartographer for the UK Ministry of Defence. He joined IC-ENC in 2005, working initially in the Data Validation team and then progressing on to ENC quality and validation policy roles. After two years working on the UKHO's Royal Navy work programme from a finance and management perspective, he was appointed as IC-ENC General Manager in 2011.​

James works closely with the IC-ENC Chairman on strategic and political issues and is the primary point of contact for existing and prospective member hydrographic organizations. He is responsible for IC-ENC's finances and governance.

 
 

Liz Hahessy

Future Standards Manager

Liz​ is responsible for helping IC-ENC prepare for future services and the changes that will be required to support our members as the S-10​0 suite of data standards develop, most notably the ENC Standard S-101. Liz will also contribute to other areas, in addition to providing cover to our business critical post of Technical Manager.

     IC-ENC Data Manager

     Mike is a long term member of IC-ENC team with years of practical ENC validation expertise. He routinely works with      IC-ENC members to resolve data issues and manages the UK based IC-ENC validation team of five. All ENC                datasets received in IC-ENC UK are passed through Mike and his validation team.

​The IC-ENC Validation Team consists of 8 Data Validators located across four offices. Dan Garratt, IC-ENC Senior Data Validator, leads the team.

The IC-ENC Validation Team are trained in the use of role specific validation tools and the analysis of their output. They collectively hold years of dedicated ENC validation knowledge which is enhanced with role specific training and backed up by cartographic experience and understanding. Using ENC specific validatio​n tools and multiple ECDIS systems, the teams comprehensively validate all new ENC cells and updates.
