Since its launch earlier this year, IC-ENC has received a wide range of positive feedback on our interactive catalogue which shows the worldwide coverage of ENCs. In response to these suggestions, we have made a number of improvements and added new and enhanced display options.
There are now two modes to choose from. The ‘Simple’ mode is a streamlined version of the original catalogue which is easier to use. The ‘Advanced’ mode goes further by showing the actual data limits for many of the available ENCs, and allows you to display just the ENCs belonging to specific usage bands. By showing data limits, you have a much clearer idea of the actual extent of coverage of the ENCs, thus allowing you to select the ones you need more accurately.
Both versions continue to offer you the same wide range of zoom, pan, query and select functions as before to easily find the ENCs which interest you. We have also now added the compilation scales of many of the available ENCs, as well as optional displays of the main shipping routes and ocean currents.
Look out for a version of this catalogue, based on ESRI’s ArcReader freeware software, which we will release shortly. With this version you will be able to download updated files from IC-ENC each month, and use the catalogue locally on your own PC without having to have constant online access.
