IC-ENC releases the first South African ENC - 18th July 2003
IC-ENC has enjoyed close cooperation with the South African Hydrographic Office (SANHO) since IC-ENC went operational in the summer of 2002. SANHO has been an active contributor to the recent discussions on how to further improve the standardisation of ENC products from various Hydrographic offices.

We are therefore delighted to now be in a position to release the first South African ENC covering the important harbour of Durban. This is the first in a series of nearly 80 ENC cells that SANHO plans to release, and it is hoped that it will be shortly followed by a series of ENCs covering Cape Town harbour and its approaches. When complete, the South African dataset will provide mariners with comprehensive coverage of South African waters at all usage band scales.
