In response to market feedback about the lack of knowledge of ENC coverage, IC-ENC continues to maintain an online graphical catalogue of ENC coverage world-wide. It is designed to show anyone interested in investing in ECDIS / ENCs the extent of the coverage world-wide, and provide details of where the ENC data can be purchased from.
The catalogue therefore does not limit itself to just the ENC data from the members of IC-ENC, but also details ENCs produced by other national hydrographic offices around the world in order to provide a more complete picture of the status of ENC production. The catalogue currently lists over 8,200 ENCs from more than 45 countries, about 7,300 of which are available for sale.
The catalogue contains a number of interactive tools to aid the selection and interrogation of specific ENCs.
The catalogue has now been improved to simplify the layout of the information and to provide additional functionality. All ENC data for which actual data coverage information is available (currently over 7,000 ENCs) is now grouped into useage bands under a new "ENC Coverage" section. The remaining ENCs which are available, and for which only cell limit information is available, are grouped into a new "Other ENC" section together with information about further ENCs which it is understood are currently being produced.
For all of these layers, it is now possible to view the cell name labels on the map. The user can also now choose to display details of the main ports to make it easier when trying to locate the ENC coverage that is available.
Navigation has been improved by the addition of an overview window which allows the user to move the main display to another area of interest in just one click without having to use any of the zoom functions. |
