IC-ENC is proud to announce that the Icelandic Coast Guard - Hydrographic Department (ICG HD) has decided to join the growing number of nations that together form the International Centre for ENCs.
IC-ENC has been cooperating with the Icelandic office for some time as it has developed its ENC production capability. We are therefore particularly pleased to be able to continue to build on this good working relationship.
The ICG HD is currently developing its ENC scheme in preparation for the production phase. Issues related to the IHO's consistency recommendations are being considered as part of these preparations to ensure that the highest quality product is produced.
The production of the first cell, a 1:180,000 coastal ENC of the navigationally important south-western part of Iceland, including Reykjavik, will be produced first. It is expected to be ready for release in the next couple of months.
IC-ENC membership now stands at eighteen nations, and Iceland represents the sixth nation to join this year. This demonstrates IC-ENC's ongoing committment to providing the mariner with the broadest coverage of high quality and consistent ENCs through a series of professional and integrated ENC services which the mariner can choose between.
