ENC Validation

At IC-ENC, we focus on quality and consistency to ensure safety of life at sea. Our team of experienced Validators use a variety of software tools to analyse each ENC according to the defined rules and encoding practices as set out in S-57 and S-58, as well as IC-ENC policies which are based on real and practical user experience.

The standards and the reports generated by the software tools are often ambiguous, complex, and inconsistent, so we take pride in our expertise to interpret these reports and to provide valuable assurance to our members. We also look at consistency across the entire dataset and overall safety and usability of the products.

We produce a detailed feedback report for each validation which provides an overall picture of each ENC’s quality and suitability for release, and offers guidance on how to correct any issues identified and recommended improvement action.
