Join as a Value Added Reseller

VAR Appointment Criteria

In order to be considered for acceptance as an official IC-ENC Value Added Reseller, applicants are required to complete and return the VAR Application Questionnaire.

The application questionnaire contains several questions, the responses to which will be considered by IC-ENC in order to assess the suitability of your proposal. The criteria applied to the evaluation of answers to the Mandatory Requirements (Scored Questions) of the form are based on the following main areas of capability:

If you feel that your company qualifies, you will need to submit an application form that is structured and designed to allow you to demonstrate how you able to meet the criteria for appointment.

IC-ENC will then commission an independent assessment of each application against the criteria. Where the assessment is successful, the applicant will then be required to physically demonstrate their ability to create accurate and complete ENC exchange sets which have been protected using the applicant's chosen data security scheme before being appointed as an IC-ENC VAR.

IC-ENC treats all appointed VARs equally, providing the ENC data to all IC-ENC VARs at the same price, and under the same conditions.

Pay as You Sail (PAYS) Specification

PAYS is a subscription-based service that gives a vessel access to worldwide ENCs for planning purposes, with the vessel then only being charged for those ENCs used during their voyage.

The PAYS Specification has been developed between the two RENCS, IC-ENC and PRIMAR, and version 3.0 (published 15th November 2023) has introduced guidance for third-party PAYS providers.
