IC-ENC launches S-101 Validation Service
IC-ENC is thrilled to announce the first release of S-100 data to the IC-ENC Distribution Chain!
The first release includes 96 S-101 ENCs from the Hellenic Navy Hydrographic Service (HNHS) and 3 S-101 ENCs from the Oman National Hydrographic Office (ONHO). This marks fantastic progress for HNHS and ONHO in producing their first official S-100 products, and for IC-ENC in launching our S-101 Validation Service.
Starting on 4th November 2025, HNHS sent a batch of S-101 ENCs to IC-ENC for validation each week, and the ONHO S-101 ENCs arrived for validation before Christmas. This provided us with an excellent opportunity to test the end-to-end S-101 Validation Service, including our DMD workflow tool, working practices and policies.
The Validation Team used 7Cs Analyzer to conduct S-158:100 and S-158:101 validation checks, and the S-100 Knowledgebase to categorise the severity of any validation error messages. Subsequently, a detailed feedback report was provided for each validated S-101 ENC with any recommended action to improve the quality of the S-101 ENC.
In the first three weeks of January, we conducted several stages of testing to ensure that the release process was performing as expected, and the output S-100 exchange set conformed to the S-100 standard.
On Friday 23rd January, we generated the first official S-100 exchange set containing the 99 S-101 ENCs, digitally signed in accordance with S-100 Part 15 by IC-ENC, and made this available to the IC-ENC distribution chain.
This is an excellent milestone achievement in both HNHS and ONHO’s S-100 journeys, and we look forward to receiving the first set of updates for these ENCs in due course.
HNHS:
“We are proud that the first 96 Greek S-101 ENCs are available for distribution through IC-ENC! S-101 production was a unique experience and an interesting period of collective work for the past few years at HNHS. From the technical side of things, our S-101 ENC production was achieved using CARIS (S-101 compilation) and SevenCs Analyzer – SDMS (Validation, Exchange Set creation, Digital Signing), as well as custom made HNHS tools. This success would not be possible without the continuous support of our software providers (CARIS – SevenCs) and -above all- the IC-ENC and their expert S-100 Support & Validation team. We wish to express our gratitude for their dedicated assistance. Looking forward to the New S-100 Era!”
ONHO:
“We’re pleased to be part of the launch of the IC-ENC S-101 Validation Service. The Oman National Hydrographic Office (ONHO) has proudly produced its first three S-101 ENCs, with validation carried out by IC-ENC through this new service. This represents an important step in our transition towards the IHO Universal Hydrographic Data Model (S-100) and reflects our ongoing efforts to improve data quality, enhance maritime safety, and support sustainable maritime development. Many thanks to the IC-ENC team for their support and collaboration. We look forward to continuing our close cooperation.”
