IC-ENC Welcome 55th Member
IC-ENC are thrilled to welcome The National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA), Papua New Guinea as the 55th Member!
The NMSA was established by an Act of Parliament in 2003. It is the autonomous statutory authority responsible for all maritime safety needs of the general public, especially those in isolated coastal communities, the maritime industries and their customers.
NMSA is responsible for the regulation of maritime safety standards, coordination of Search and Rescue operations and control of marine pollution in PNG waters. NMSA also fulfills Papua New Guinea’s obligations under international conventions through implementation of national and international maritime laws. Through strong collaboration with the Australian Hydrographic Service (AHS), NMSA join IC-ENC with a folio of 168 S-57 ENCs already available through IC-ENCs distribution channels.
As a nation with vast maritime responsibilities and a strong commitment to improving navigational safety, Papua New Guinea’s membership reinforces the collective effort of Hydrographic Offices worldwide to support safer, more efficient and more environmentally responsible maritime operations.
IC-ENC looks forward to building a strong and productive partnership with Papua New Guinea National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) and we are excited to support their team as they continue to develop their national hydrographic capabilities.
