BSH: Example conversion of Lights List into S-125 service with S‑128 catalogue generation

Dates and timeframe: The secondment will take place across 2 weeks from Tuesday 2 June - Thursday 11 June 2026

Purpose of secondment:

  • Development of understanding on how to structure nautical information to make it suitable for further product development, prototyping S-125 and S-128 datasets

Desired outcomes / benefits: Capability to initiate production of S-12X datasets

Structure: The secondee will sit within the The Nautical Editorial Section

Secondee requirements:

  • Nautical background and knowledge of S-100 Product Specification for nautical publications would be beneficial

  • Basic programming skills are appreciated but not a must

Pre-work:

  • An MS Teams call will be arranged with the successful secondee before planning begins

  • It would be beneficial if the nautical information (test data of the secondee’s national area) is available in English language and in digital format

  • Preferably (comprehensive) knowledge of the S-12X data structure

Follow up work: The secondee is to provide a journal/article to IC-ENC sharing their experience. Secondee to share their learnings at IC-ENC Technical Conference or Steering Committee (if appropriate). Any relevant information to be shared with Members via the IC-ENC LMS.
