S-101PT10 meeting in Brest, France

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend and participate in the 10th S-101 Project Team (S-101PT10) meeting held in Brest, France. This meeting was hosted by the Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOM).

The three day long meeting focused on the continued development of the S-101 ENC Product Specification. Edition 1.1.0 of S-101 was published in December 2022, and edition 1.2.0 is now a key focus for the S-101PT whilst aiming to reach an operational edition 2.0.0 in 2024.

IC-ENC was interested to hear the latest proposals and challenges faced by ENC producers, particularly around the S-101 validation checks and changes to the exchange catalogue metadata in line with S-100 Edition 5.1.0. We also had the opportunity to provide a short update on the progress we have made with our Conversion Readiness Service. This service consists of several key components which have been designed to aid our members in preparing their S-57 ENC data for the transition to S-101.

The next S-101PT meeting is due to be held in Lombok, Indonesia in September 2023. For more information on the S-101PT, please visit https://iho.int/en/s-101pt10-2023.
